Josefa can't score it alone, so she enlists a team of girls with unique talents: Hinnah, a daring acrobat and contortionist; Violet, an actress and expert dissembler; and Emilie, an artist who can replicate any drawing by hand.

Told by the four voices as time is ticked away in the chapter headings, we see the problems and the weaknesses that each girl brings to the team, as well as their amazing strengths. Four daring young women must band together to pull off the heist of the century onboard the infamous Titanic. Josefa, a thief, chooses and then leads the girls on their daring escapade – they all have skills that will come in handy in the heist; Hinnah is an acrobat from the circus, Violet an actress with amazing talent, and Emilie an artist who can copy absolutely anything.Enter Josefa, an up-until-now petty thief who’s as bold as them come, and who longs to be free of society’s promulgated rules. And this probably goes without saying, but we know that the lower in Class you go, the less survivors there were, with only 24% of the Third-Class passengers making it. Historical fiction doesn't have enough of a lens on the experiences of BIPOC people but the rep we found in this book was painfully lackluster.

She is currently stuck performing super-human feats at a one-ring circus for dwindling crowds and a foul Ringmaster, having lost contact with any and all family back home. No, she’s out for the ultimate prize: the Rubiyat, a one of a kind book encrusted with gems that’s worth millions. But – infuriated by the advertising agency across the hall making fun of her job – Annie is goaded into accepting their crazy challenge: to make a random stranger Instagram-famous in just thirty days. On the other hand, the other girls, Violet and Emilie, felt quite bland in comparison and I never became truly interested in their narratives. It’s April 1912, a handful of days before the ship is due to set sail, and Irish thief Josefa has just procured a coveted ticket for passage. I have to say I loved Josefa’s character, she was methodical and intense and really knew how to lead a group.
