Description

Again, Rockstar packed this game with exact, uncompromised console audio and FMV -- it's all the same stuff, and it's all in there -- but this is one of those cases where things needed to be custom-tuned for PSP to work. It's just pure brute force, with no consideration or compromise for what would be the best tool for the job. It also has the total automobile customization ever included in a video game, with options ranging from the license plate (including state and number combinations) to the rim size. Those massive cities are damned impressive on PSP, but it's too bad that the development studio couldn't also replicate the framerate of the console game that made those cityscapes whizz by at such intensity. There are seven types of cars: Tuners, Luxury Sedans, SUVs/Trucks, Exotics, Muscle Cars, Sport Bikes, and Choppers.

If you're thinking that it's all of that heavy data streaming needed to create this vast, console-quality racing world that's holding the game up, think again. Received this game, promptly as usual, however, I did not try it out straight away and when I went to use it, yesterday, it would not load.

Before I get into the positives of Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition for PSP (and the positives should be fairly obvious -- it's flipping real-deal Midnight Club in a handheld package), you're going to have to wait. The game was released on March 12, 2006, or exactly eleven months after the original version's release. The game is in many ways a perfect example of Activision's consistent mishandling of the Bond license. Seeing as how even a few 3D DS games have achieved 60fps (and oh, what a difference it makes there), it's hard to watch a system with so much horsepower get throttled by even a game as hefty as this.

A large number of Detroit techno artists are also featured on the soundtrack, reflecting the game's setting.

In contrast to the international route of Midnight Club 2, which passed via Los Angeles, Paris, and Tokyo, racers will find themselves competing in three different locations within the United States: San Diego, Atlanta, and Detroit. Even the menus take their dear, sweet time to load, and forget about the FMV -- having to reload the game just to take a quick refresher glance at the cinematic of one 15-second tutorial clip is like a rule across your knuckles when you're trying to learn. The following music can be found in Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and the Remix soundtrack is also included. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition delivers insanely fast, open city racing in Atlanta, San Diego, and Detroit, complete with 6-player wireless competition and the most comprehensive vehicle customization ever seen in a video game.True, there's not a ton of finesse to this game -- at full speed, you're just hammering the handbrake and hoping that you re-engage the wheels before you slam up on the wall -- and there's still a dead zone in analog sensitivity. He later points to a Lamborghini Murciélago and says it is the prize to whatever car club turns out the best street racer.

Textures and building architecture are remarkably accurate to the console edition -- like Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix from Activision, there's little that's noticeable at first glance besides the smaller screen you're playing the game on.

The player begins in San Diego by meeting Oscar ( David Barrera), the mechanic of Six-One-Nine Customs, a tuning garage in San Diego. The game includes an online mode, where players can race with other players from all around the world.
