Much if it common sense but lots of useful and practical tips especially for those with busy lives and limited space. Being a life coach and an organizer helps me approach the challenge of clutter through a unique lens and allows me to help my clients make dramatic and lasting transformations—both from the outside in and from the inside out. She has realistic solutions that are very detailed and I love that the book includes writing prompts.

Rather than imposing strict rules and limitations, Shira redefines minimalism as having the perfect amount of everything-for you-based on your personal values and the limitations of your space. My court-appointed joint custody schedule was bananas (I traveled back and forth every other day), and I discovered that having my personal space feel under control was essential for my overall sense of well-being.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. There were also a few lengthy journalling exercises which, if you’re low on spare time, are not too practical. Assess the condition of the skin and nails and check if there are any contraindications to the procedure. Even though I have been minimizing my home for years and I absolutely love organization and beautiful things, I still enjoy reading books on minimizing and organizing to inspire me, keep me going, etc.

Minimalism can help improve every aspect of your life by freeing you from the clutter, distraction, and noise that stand in the way of living out your true purpose and values. I became a bit of a transformation junkie, learning how to effect change in the most simple, efficient, and impactful way possible. As a busy working parent myself, I realize that editing and organizing your entire home can be a daunting task. For this reason, my process (and this book) focuses on transforming one room at a time, one small section at a time. I tried reading that book after trying to watch The Home Edit show on Netflix until my partner asked me to shut it off because of the yelling.I initially took this title out of the library, but quickly realized that I would need a copy of my own to reference through every step of the way! Over the past decade, she has helped thousands of people around the world reduce clutter and create more space for what matters. Unfortunately I didn't have time to do the prompts because there were others waiting for this book at the library (I can see why! The philosophy behind some of the reasons she “edits” the way she does makes a lot of sense and is useful. And frankly, as I sat on the 10+ year old couches, that used to live in my parents basement, while wearing my husbands ratty old college sweatshirt (that is so damn comfortable you’ll have to pry it from my cold dead hands) I realized I’d need to take the rest of the book with a grain of salt.

Elevate your personal style, trim your belongings, and transform your life, one room at a time, with this visionary lifestyle book from organising expert, Shira Gill. But for the newbie, although I think it asks all the right questions, I doubt it creates the same sense of deep seated urgency, life-or-death cleaning urge, that is needed for true behavioral change. Your belongings are a physical manifestation of your life—your stuff can reveal what you value, what your priorities are, and where you’re stuck or struggling. All in all I thought this was mostly common sense advice but it was a quick read and we’ll benefit from it.Breaks the de-cluttering exercise down into small chunks with lots of suggestions as to how to start the process and stay de-cluttered.
